All chainmail jewellery on this site is currently created using nickel silver plated rings only.

Chainmail (also known as Chainmaille) is the ancient art of linking rings together. The earliest finds have been dated back to the 4^th century BC. It was traditionally used to make protective armor, but is now most commonly used to make jewellery.

There are 4 main categories of chainmail: European, Japanese, Persian and Hybrid.

The most common family is the European, of which the European 4-1 was most widely used for armor in ancient Europe, and is the most well known of all weaves today.

The Japanese weaves were traditionally used in Japan, mainly for joining sections of armor plates together. Usually a smaller ring size was used than the European types.

The Persian weave has a misleading name. There is actually no evidence to suggest this weave was ever used in Persia to create armor or jewellery. Most of these weaves were created in modern times to make jewellery.

The Hybrid weaves are all the other miscellaneous weaves.

This bracelet is created in the box chain weave. 

But I've managed to incorporated some yellow beads through the center.

This bracelet is made with the Full Persian 6-1 weave. 

This weave has a similar look to the box weave, but is a much tighter weave and is created very differently.

This bracelet was created with sections of byzantine weave connected together with fascinating clear pillow shaped glass beads that have an orange centre.

Box chain bracelet.  This box chain bracelet features a largish maroon coloured glass bead in the middle of the bracelet. 

It is formed using 7mm nickel-plated rings and It measures approximately 20.5cm long.

Bracelet made in Dragontail weave.  This weave has a similar look to the Half Persian 3-1 weave, but uses 2 different sized rings. 

This creation is made with silver rings in 10mm and 7mm sizes and  measures approximately 19cm.

Silver bracelet made in Byzantine variation pattern. This is a variation on the usual Byzantine weave pattern and is made with 7mm and 10mm rings of nickel silver.

This creation features a shaggy loop design, for those that like lots of danglies.  Each shaggy loop is decorated with pink and yellow glass beads.

This is a variation of the traditional byzantine weave, called half byzantine. 

The byzantine is a fascinating weave that has a 3D look.  Between each section is either a purple cracked glass cylinder bead or an interestingly shaped yellow bead. 

The whole bracelet measures approximately 20.5cm in length.
