All chainmail jewellery on this site is currently created using nickel silver plated rings only.

Chainmail (also known as Chainmaille) is the ancient art of linking rings together. The earliest finds have been dated back to the 4^th century BC. It was traditionally used to make protective armor, but is now most commonly used to make jewellery.

There are 4 main categories of chainmail: European, Japanese, Persian and Hybrid.

The most common family is the European, of which the European 4-1 was most widely used for armor in ancient Europe, and is the most well known of all weaves today.

The Japanese weaves were traditionally used in Japan, mainly for joining sections of armor plates together. Usually a smaller ring size was used than the European types.

The Persian weave has a misleading name. There is actually no evidence to suggest this weave was ever used in Persia to create armor or jewellery. Most of these weaves were created in modern times to make jewellery.

The Hybrid weaves are all the other miscellaneous weaves.

These earrings are created using the chainmail cluster technique. 

They have a baby blue multi-faceted glass bead on the top, and another dangling off the bottom.  They measure approximately 8cm.

They are all silver and measure  approximately 5.5cm long.

Silver European 4-1 diamond shape earrings.

These fascinating earrings were made with 7mm rings of nickel silver, and they measure approximately 7cm long.

They have pink glass beads all through the bottom rings.  Measures approximately 6cm.

These earrings are made using the flower chain technique.  They are all silver, with 7mm and 10mm rings in nickel silver. 

They measure approximately 3.5cm.

These are made with the helm chain weave with both 7mm and 10mm nickel plated rings and they measure approximately 4.5 cm.

This is from the European family, and is similar to the box chain.

This piece is made with 7mm rings of nickel silver, and measures approximately 4cm.

These earrings are created using the fuchsia dangle technique, but with some larger rings and red cracked glass beads dangling from the base.

They measure approximately 5.5cm in length.

This creation features a shaggy loop design, for those that like lots of danglies.  Each shaggy loop is decorated with pink and yellow glass beads. 

These earrings measure approximately 6cm.

These earrings are created with the 4-1 European chainmail weave. 

I've used 5mm jumprings to create them into diamond shapes measuring approximatelety 3cm at widest point times 8.5cm in length.
